Our Story

Deové wines is truly a labor of love. Like many great companies, we started in our garage. Though well versed in many forms of fermentation, true wine making was a new venture. Borrowing equipment from good friends and learning about the process as we went, our initial results were good but not of the quality we aspired to. To up our game, we started producing our wine at respected vintner Territorial, and enlisted the help of winemaker Ray Walsh. As the years went by, our group reduced down to two, Mike and Kyle. With many trials and lessons learned, Deové Wine Company has settled into a sweet spot for ourselves -- dedication to low yields, high quality, and enjoyment of the art.

Deové (dee oh vay) represents the “Daughter of the Vine” from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. Omar was a Persian philosopher, astronomer and poet from the 11th Century and in the Rubaiyat wine is featured prominently. Our imagery evokes the sensual and feminine nature of wine:

You know, my Friends, how long since in my House

For a new Marriage I did make Carouse:

Divorced old barren Reason from my Bed,

And took the Daughter of the Vine to Spouse.
